Clarke Reynolds

Clarke Reynolds

Quantus Gallery is honored to present the inspiring work of Clarke Reynolds, an artist who has turned adversity into a profound source of creativity. Born in Portsmouth in 1981 with limited sight, Clarke faced the challenges of retinitis pigmentosa and a turbulent childhood marked by domestic violence and alcohol abuse. Amidst these hardships, Clarke found solace and expression in drawing, a practice that became his sanctuary.

After a career as a dental model maker was cut short due to the progression of his sight loss, Clarke discovered textiles and realized the potential of using the tactility of fabrics and sound as innovative muses for his art. This shift not only marked the beginning of his journey as a full-time artist but also highlighted his resilience and adaptability.

Today, Clarke is not only known for his unique art created in his Portsmouth studio but also for his dedication to teaching Braille in schools. He is celebrated for his advocacy of Braille literacy, which benefits thousands in the UK, and has a class named after him at London's Kings Cross Academy. Clarke Reynolds embodies the spirit of overcoming adversity through art and education, making a significant impact in both the artistic and visually impaired communities.
